Before selling your iPhone, back up your information and remove your personal data. Follow these steps:
Back up and transfer your data. Save your photos, contacts, messages and files, then check that you can access everything you need on your replacement device.
Unpair your Apple Watch, if you have one connected.
Transfer your mobile service. Move your number or eSIM to your replacement phone before erasing the old device.
Sign out of your Apple Account. Open Settings > [your name] > Sign Out and follow the instructions for your iOS version.
Erase your iPhone. If it hasn’t already been erased during sign-out, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings. Enter the requested credentials and erase the eSIM profile when prompted.
Remove your physical SIM, if fitted, and leave the phone at its welcome screen.
Completing Apple’s erase process turns off Find My and Activation Lock. If you’re switching to Android, deregister iMessage too. Avoid manually deleting iCloud-synced photos or contacts, as this can also remove them from your other devices.
